A new twist on Firefly music....
I'm currently in the process of writing an entire album as a "hidden" tribute to Firefly. Each track focuses on one character's point of view. Every single person on here should be able to tell me which song is sung from whose point of view based on title and lyrics alone (which makes me REALLY happy!)

Anyway. The genre is rhythmic/ambient... kind of electronic. So far it's been described as having "Imogen Heap vocals, Shiny Toy Guns/New Order synths, and The Postal Service/Playradioplay beats". Not sure if anybody's into that... but it's what poured out of me this time around.

PLEASE LISTEN: http://soundcloud.com/nopowerintheverse/

This will be updated frequently, but at this very moment the first song is the only one that's completely produced and mixed. The rest are just ideas... but you'll get it! I know you will!  You may notice some blatant
Greg Edmonson stuff. :D

I'm really curious to see if this idea could take off in the Firefly community. I'm going to try to get it on TV first (commercials probably). My dream is to get it played on Chuck so Adam Baldwin can hear it. :D

Leave me feedback!

EDIT: I'm completely open to album name suggestions! Although, I'm heavily leaning towards "tragic space dementia". Hahaha!

Greg Edmonson, with new music! (XPOSTED)
I gave Greg Edmonson a call the other day to catch up, and he told me of some great news. :) He's finished with his latest project! He'd told me a little about it earlier in the year, but now that it's done and ready for the public I can let the news out. *grin*

Greg has finished his musical project for Sony games... Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. It will be released November 20th, 2007 (that's gorramn soon). He wrote the music for it, of course. He said that they were great folks to work with, that they gave him a lot of leeway with the sound of the score. At the link above you can get to the trailer for the game, and listening to it... yep, you can hear Greg in there. :)

So get the word out, Browncoats - iffen you're a Greg Edmonson fan, check out Uncharted: Drake's Fortune!

Here's a link to an interview with Naughty Dog where they talk about working with Greg. Here's a snippet: The music in Uncharted was entirely composed by this guy named Greg Edmonson who also did all of the composition for the music in Firefly the series and we're all really big fans of that series and something that really stood out for us was the music and the really eclectic international wide variety of instrumentation that he used.

Enjoy! :)

A Call To Action!
A message from fithelere -

Ni-howdy, Browncoats,

We live in exciting times. I'm sure you know that Joss Whedon hinted that Universal would be taking a close look at Serenity Collector's Edition sales, and that Alan Tudyk recently let it slip that there are rumblings about a sequel at Universal. Now is the time to let our voices be heard.

That's why I'm writing to you to endorse the wavecard writing campaign recently proposed over on The Signal forum:

Basically, the idea is quite simple. Quantum Mechanix sells packs of really shiny 'Verse-themed postcards. If you haven't seen 'em, check 'em out. They're pretty and funny:

So the plan is to order sets of these cards, write a note asking (politely) for Serenity sequel on each one, and send them to Universal at this address:

Universal Pictures
100 Universal City Plaza
Universal City, CA 91608
Attn: Donna Langley
Attn: Jon Gordon

(BTW, there's some uncertainty on The Signal forum about the attn names, so if anyone has more up to date info, please don't keep it to yourself. In any case, we know it's the right address, and the postcards are sure to get someone's attention.)

Why is this letter writing campaign different from those of the past?

First off, timing. We know Universal is on the verge of greenlighting the Big Damn Sequel.

Second off, Universal Licensed Products. In the film industry, money talks, so by sending these wavecards, which are official licensed products, we're putting money in Universal's pocket and underscoring the potential for lots more profit.

Third, this time, we're all behind it. Only you can make sure that we do the impossible—again. When all the Browncoats stand united, there's not a power in the 'Verse that can stop us.

Let's make it happen, folks,

Okay, I know I post here more than other people, but whatever, I'm the mod, I can do that.

I'm looking for sheet music! I'm trying to find sheet music for Inside the Tam House (piano AND violin), to no avail. Google gives me a fat load of nothing.
Anyone know where I can find any?
Other songs would be nice too, but I'm mostly looking for Inside the Tam House.

Hey, all! Quick question.

I'm trying to pick out all the instruments used in the Firefly opening song. I can pick out the fiddle, and I think a guitar, but it's been too damn long since I was in orchestra to pick up anything else. =/ Ideas?

Also, sheet music would be swell, if anyone knows where I can find any. :D I already have sheet music for the fiddle part.

I am in love with the music of Firefly. I want to find some western/fiddle/acoustic guitar/cowboy kind of music - instrumentals only (and NOT country music). I was watching that Texas Ranch House show on PBS (like survivor - cowboy style) and the music they played reminded me so much of Firefly music.
You know what I mean? That fiddle/guitar-centric kind of music.
I neeeeed it.
Can anybody help me out?

Hey all! I have a question for you. I've looked everywhere but haven't found an answer.

This is mostly a cell phone question, I guess... but I'm the mod, I can be a little off topic! ;D Anyway... I have a Verizon phone... don't know much about it beyond that. Anyway, I want the Fruity Oaty Bar song as a ringtone! :D How can I get it onto my phone?
And how the hell can I tell what type of Verizon phone I have? D: It's on my fiance's roomie's plan, and they just... gave me the phone. XD;

Thank you!

Songs in the key of FF
A collection of songs that share the same title as our favorite Outer Space Western...

American Music Club - Firefly

American Music Club's classic 3rd album 'California' begins with this breezy country-tinged song. It's probably one of the most uplifting and pretty songs the band ever recorded. It remained a staple of their live repitoire and also appears on Mark Eitzel's solo album "Songs of Love Live"

Tortoise - Firefly

This evocative soundworld was created by Tortoise - a legendary band with a legendary purpose. This can be found on their 2001 release 'Standards' available on Thrilljockey

Heavens to Betsy- Firefly

Before Corin Tucker took over the world with Sleater-Kinney, she was the bassist in Kill Rock Stars allumnus Heavens to Betsy. Originally released on a oop 7", this rockin' little number can be now found on the comp cd "Some Songs" available from KRS.
